Brit Claims Vegas Magic Show Left Him Brain Damaged

A British man has claimed that a Las Vegas magic show performed by David Copperfield has left him brain damaged, and is attempting to sue the magician and the MGM Hotel for damages. Both parties deny any fault.

Gavin Cox, from London, was picked at random from the audience during the performance in 2013. The stunt saw 13 members of the audience placed behind a curtain before they "disappeared" and miraculously reappeared at the other end of the theatre. On this occasion the act didn't go entirely to plan.

Cox's lawsuit revealed the secrets of the illusion, and in fact the participants were rushed along a secret passageway to the other side of the venue. During the pandemonium the 55-year-old tripped and dislocated his right shoulder. Mr Cox also maintains he has suffered more serious injuries including a form of Parkinson's.

The lawsuit states that Mr Cox was hurried with no guidance or interaction through a dark area under construction and littered with cement dust and debris.

Lawyers representing Copperfield, said:

"This illusion has been performed for more than 15 years and with more than 100,000 participants. The history of the show speaks for itself. We deny all allegations. Unfortunately we cannot comment further due to ongoing litigation."
