American passenger jokes about having Ebola and is escorted off the plane

An American man sneezed and yelled 'I have Ebola', which resulted in a Hazmat team rushing on to the plane in Philadelphia.

The passenger who doesn't have Ebola was detained by four officers and rushed to the airport's medical centre in Punta Cara.

The rest of the 255 passengers who remained on the plane, were forced to stay stationary for two hours, until the man was cleared, although the airline staff insisted the man had made a poor joke.

After the first man diagnosed of Ebola in the US died, the White House stepped up medical screening at hospitals across the nation.

Through the four hour US Airway flight, the man had reportedly been coughing and sneezing which are the first signs of the disease.

People who were filming the incident on their phone, shouted 'boo' at the unnamed passenger as he was escorted off the plane with his luggage.

Alberto Smith, director of the operations at Punta Cana Airport told Acento.com.do, "It was a false alarm set off by the passenger who is slightly unbalanced."

Walter Zemialkowski, director of terminals and maintenance at the airport, said the passenger is believed to have flu.
