Mother of five dies of breast cancer after 2 year misdiagnosis

A Plymouth mum of five lost her battle with breast cancer recently after being misdiagnosed with tennis elbow two years before.

46 year old Jill Goodrum had visited her GP in 2011 complaining that she was unable to raise her arms but it was not until 2013 when she discovered a lump near her breast that the terrible discovery was made.

The life changing moment came in December last year when doctors delivered the blow that she had actually been suffering from an aggressive and invasive form of breast cancer.

Jill spent Christmas day with her beloved family on the beach, her favourite place.  The Cancer had spread to her lymph nodes and liver and by this time was terminal.

Speaking at the time of the devastating diagnosis, Jill said, "When I found out it was terminal, I sat in the car park at the hospital for about an hour unable to let go of the wall I was holding onto".

With five children and four grandchildren, Jill died on 21 May this year leaving behind a loving family and a legacy of raising thousands of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

With so much to live for, the diagnosis hit the doting mum hard.  Speaking to reporters before she died, Jill admitted, "It's just horrific, I'm 46 and I'm just never going to get old".

"The fact that I have two small children is very hard to deal with too.  I'm never going to see them grow up, my children are going to lose their mummy".
