No country for old women according to NHS

When 95 year old Lily Dove received a letter from her GP she was stunned to be told she could no longer visit the surgery she had been to her entire life.

Living in the same area of Norfolk since her birth in 1919, Lily has been told that she must travel to the neighbouring town of Swaffham due to the increasing population in the popular market town.

The deluge of largely Eastern European migrants arriving in the area to take up agricultural jobs has stretched public services to breaking point and Lily is just one of 1500 residents who must make way for the newcomers.

Incredibly, Lily has been visiting her local surgery for in Watton for so long that she can remember when the doctor would make home visits on a horse and trap!

When the news came that Lily would be de-registered from the surgery within a fortnight, the widow was upset, admitting, "I am deteriorating a bit.  Life is difficult enough without having to change my doctor".

Now living in a bungalow, Lily spent the first 88 years of her life living on an arable farm, latterly running the farm with her late husband.  Having paid her taxes and contributed to the NHS healthcare system she is livid about the changes.

"I've been with the Watton surgery all my life, as were my parents before me.  This letter came out of the blue.  There was no question of discussing it with you or anything.  I am very nervous about going to Swaffham"
