Two Ryanair planes collide on Dublin Airport runway

Ryanair jet had its wing torn off when it collided with another Ryanair plane at Dublin airport.

The jets respectively heading to Brussels and Edinburgh crashed into each other in the comparative darkness. Passengers watched in horror as the aircraft wing tip was sheared off in the incident.

Emergency services were called to the airport and flights were temporarily stopped as the scene was cleared. It is believed that no one was injured in the accident.

Passenger Andrea Cunningham, was on her way to Edinburgh when the planes crashed into each other. She said, "I thought the plane was going a bit fast when we was taking off, you could feel the plane tug and we stopped. We were on the plane for about an hour."

Ryanair made a statement about the accident and said, "Two of our aircrafts were taxing slowly to the runway at Dublin Airport this morning. The winglet of one of the aircrafts appears to have scraped the tail of the other. Both planes were following instructions from Dublin Airport Air Traffic Control at the time.
