A group of middle aged women duped 10,000 investors out of 19 million pounds

A group of greedy middle aged women were the masterminds behind a £19million get rich quick scheme.

They encouraged around 10,000 vulnerable women to invest in the scheme with £3,000 cash either begging, borrowing or stealing as they would receive a £24,000 pay out if they reached the top of the pyramid.

The scheme known as Give and Take was spread across the country in Weston Super Mere, Torquay, Wales, Bath, Gloucester and Bridgewater.

Members behind the scheme pocketed up to £92,000 each, however 90 per cent of the women who were recruited lost out by £15,000.

The scheme also known as Key to Fortune was uncovered by authorities when it was being promoted in an office in Bristol and an angry employer contacted British Trading Standards to report it.

Eleven women are to be prosecuted for a scheme, under new legislation in the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Act 2009.

A father of four from Wales told The Daly Mail online readers that he paid the £3,000 in 2009 and was definitely sure he would receive a £23,000 pay-out.

Mr Gough said he began to make plans with his family for the £23,000 they expected to receive once he reached the top of his chart but it was too good to be true. His dreams to clear his debts were gone.
