Massive Altercation Erupts at Student Event in Fever Nightclub, Derby City Center

A significant altercation unfolded during a University of Derby students' union club night, leading to a response from Derbyshire police. The incident took place at Fever nightclub on Wardwick at 3:20 am on Tuesday, October 10.
 
An anonymous student witness described the scene as a "huge brawl" involving a substantial number of individuals inside the club. The altercation reportedly escalated to the use of objects such as bottles and chairs. This club night was designated as an official union-affiliated event, marking it as a space intended for students' safety.
 
One individual was reported to have sustained minor injuries. The authorities managed to disperse the crowd inside the venue, and discussions were held with the club's staff.
 
Approximately 50 minutes later, the police were called to another incident on Cathedral Road, where a student accommodation block is located. At 4:10 am, a 25-year-old man was discovered with a non-life-threatening, non-life-altering injury to his leg. No arrests have been made in connection with this occurrence, and investigations are ongoing to ascertain the circumstances of the injury.
 
A spokesperson for the Union of Students conveyed their awareness of the incident, emphasizing the paramount importance of student safety. They stated that they are collaborating with relevant authorities to address the situation.
 
The Stonegate Group, owners of Fever nightclub, also commented on the incident, reaffirming their commitment to guest and staff safety. They pledged full cooperation with the police's investigative efforts.
 
Derbyshire police have encouraged anyone with information related to the Fever incident to come forward, referencing case number 95-101023. Those with information about the Cathedral Road incident were likewise urged to contact the police, quoting reference number 103-101023.
 
In relation to the Fever nightclub incident, a man in his twenties was arrested on suspicion of affray and has been released on bail while investigations continue.
