Paul Gallagher, 59, of East Finchley, north London, has denied rape and a series of other violent sexual offences. The charges, brought by Scotland Yard following an investigation that began last year, were first reported by The Telegraph in July.
He appeared yesterday at Southwark Crown Court, where he also denied allegations of coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Police said the incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2022 and 2024, and that the woman involved has been receiving support from specially trained officers. Mr Gallagher is due to stand trial in September 2027.
Paul Gallagher, a photographer, is one year older than Noel and seven years older than Liam. He grew up with the brothers in Burnage, Manchester, but has never been involved with Oasis. He has previously claimed to have influenced their music, saying in one interview: "I always had the cool records, but now they've turned it into their own thing. That bugs me." While he denies being jealous, he has admitted frustration at being referred to as "the other Gallagher."
In 1996, he published Brothers: From Childhood to Oasis – The Real Story, a book chronicling their upbringing and the formation of the band. Mr Gallagher has lived in a flat in north London bought by Noel in 2004 and has worked as a DJ.
His court appearance comes in the wake of Oasis's reunion, following a 16-year split, which included their first live performance at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, in early July.
