Nottinghamshire Police Issue Plea Warning Men of Knife Crime

Nottinghamshire Police have issued a plea to Nottingham's young men, urging them not to let their friends get involved in deadly knife crime.

One of Nottingham's top police officers has issued a warning over the devastating consequences of knife crime in a bid to save the lives of young men throughout the city.

Chief Superintendent Mike Manley, the new divisional commander for Nottinghamshire Police, said:

"What concerns me is when you have cases, like Joshua Bradley, where other people were present who knew the attacker was carrying a knife. These people will end up getting caught up in an investigation and are risking their futures by not having the courage to stand up and say it's wrong.

"If people know their friends are going out armed with a knife, I want them to challenge them. Carrying a knife is disgraceful and it's cowardly.

"You could be protecting your friends if you tell us before it's too late."

Nottingham has beared witness to a string of violent knife crimes in recent months, including that of promising young boxer, Joshua Bradley, who was stabbed to death after stepping into a fight to help a friend.
