Police Issue Nottingham Drugs Warning

Police and medical officials are urging the public to be more aware of the dangers posed by drug taking, after two clubbers fell "seriously ill".

Nottinghamshire Police and Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust say the two people were hospitalised during the weekend.

The two individuals both became ill after visiting the same Nottingham nightclub, which has not yet been named. They were taken to the Queen's Medical Centre where they remain in a stable and improving condition.

Two people have since been arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs in relation to the incidents.

Superintendent Ted Antill said, "We always warn people about the dangers of taking drugs but this warning becomes even starker in circumstances like these when it is clear there may be drugs circulating in the city which are having such a devastating impact.

"Please refrain from buying and taking drugs. If you have bought any drugs, particularly if you purchased them recently, do not take them.

"We actively target people who bring drugs into our city and we will continue to do so. I'd like to warn those who are thinking of supplying drugs here that we're looking for you and we are determined to stop you."
