The rise of Lifestyle Tenants

Such Contracts will allow for large, formerly empty, properties to be converted and filled by "lifestyle tenants" who might otherwise be unable to live in urban areas.

Such tenants are described as being professionals who enjoy having the flexibility to move whenever they want.

According to Rightmove, two thirds of tenants want to buy property but can't afford to.

However that also indicates that the remaining third, in their twenties or thirties, are comfortable with the flexibility renting allows.

Renting rooms in existing property can lead to niggling issues regards sharing bathrooms but it seems Reza Merchant, director of Share in the City has come up with a potential solution. He's proposing communal living spaces that offer a hotel-like quality and service.

He knows his target market saying "They (life style tenants) lead busy London lives, so it's all about convenience and making their lives as easy as possible."

At the moment it seems such projects are confined to densely populated areas of London but there would seem to be scope further north, too.
