High Court Challenge to new Tottenham Stadium

Tottenham Hotspur football club have had planning consent for their new stadium approved with construction due to finish in time for the 2018-19 season.

The go ahead for the £400m stadium was delayed whilst Archway Sheet Metal Works, in Tottenham, asked a judge to stop the development.

Their land was the subject of a compulsory purchase order which was necessary in order to avoid the project being shelved. The firm themselves argued that the Compulsory Purchase Order was both "unlawful and invalid".

In a blow to their case Mr Justice Dove ruled there was "no legal flaw" in the decision-making process. Had their appeal been upheld the plans for the 56,000 seater stadium would have collapsed.

At this point, and subject to an appeal, it is understood that Tottenham intent creating a "world class" football venue. The owner of the business, Mr Josif Josif, was in court the hear the judges decision.
