If you are recently bereaved and need a helping hand to register a death in Greenwich, our probate solicitors want to help you through this difficult time.
Whether you live in the Greenwich area or elsewhere in England and Wales, a death must be registered within 5 days and this should be done within the borough where it took place.
The Royal Borough of Greenwich operates an appointment only system for registering a death, so as difficult as it will be, you must contact the registrar as soon as possible on 0208 921 5015.
Legally the death must be registered in Greenwich within 5 days of receiving either a medical certificate proving the cause of death from the hospital, attending doctor or a document named part B from the Coroner's office.
If it is not possible for the Greenwich register office to provide you with an appointment within this timescale, they do operate a walk-in service for special circumstances. Their address is; Woolwich Town Hall, Wellington Street, Woolwich SE18 6PW.
Our sympathetic solicitors will advise you how to register the death of a loved one and which documents you will need to provide to the registrar. When you have received a copy of the official death certificate, we can then talk you through the process of probate.
Taking things one step at a time, call our dedicated Greenwich team for sensible support during this emotional period on 020 8297 4414 or alternatively, complete the form to the right and we will contact you at a time which is convenient.
