Oldham Man Charged After Fatal Porsche Crash

A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving after a passenger died when a car crashed into a lamppost.

The incident happened at around 14:10 GMT on Wednesday, March 22, when a Porsche Boxster hit a lamppost on Greenacres Road, Oldham.

The passenger, a 42-year-old man, died in hospital a short time later.

Stephen Wilson, 46, from Oldham, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, and driving while uninsured.

Sergeant Brian Orr, of GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said:

"This is a tragic set of circumstances that has taken a man's life. Our thoughts are with his family and we have specialist officers working with them at this traumatic time.

"This happened on a busy road in the middle of the day when people would have been around and may have seen something. I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time to please contact us."

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
