Linder Myers law firm talks redundancy

Dozens of jobs could be at risk at rescued Manchester law firm, Linder Myers according to a report in the Law Society Gazette.

The firm's Chief Executive Tony Stockdale has confirmed to reporters the company are in talks to cut staff levels over the next month

Although it has been denied that as many as 50 jobs could be lost, the move comes following a takeover by the legal business adviser Assure Law earlier this year.

In a seven figure investment bid, Linder Myers was saved from going under and job losses look inevitable with a restructure imminent.

Despite Stockdale commenting to the Gazette in April that the company had no immediate plans for redundancies, he did say that this could change following a review of the business.

Speaking of the latest redundancy talks, he added, "As a result of the recent deal between Assure Law and Linder Myers, a thorough review of the size and shape of the business has been undertaken".

"The outcome of this is that a number of fee earning and support roles have entered into a 30-day period of consultation which is likely to result in a number of positions being made redundant".
