Resident's Pleas for Bollards on Sandy Lane

Rochdale resident Debbie Morrison is calling for bollards to be installed on Sandy Lane after a vehicle collided with her and her neighbour's houses on Sunday December 4.

Two women had to be rescued from the vehicle and were taken to hospital, while one adult male received treatment at the scene from paramedics.

The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service Response Unit were called to the scene, alongside the Major Response Unit, to lift the car end ensure the area was safe.

Debbie said:

"We've all been lucky – this time. This isn't the first time it's happened; on two other occasions, someone has driven through the neighbours' garden into ours, completely destroying the wall in the middle. People have driven into the bus stop before as well.

"It's really a matter of everyone's safety, we don't want someone to go through the house into our front room. I've spoken to my local councillor, Cecile Biant, who said she's my case forward."

A Greater Manchester Police spokesman confirmed that the 23-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene.
