New President of The Birmingham Law Society Has Been Appointed

A new president of the Birmingham Law Society (BLS) has been appointed, James Turner takes the position two hundred years after the organization was founded. James succeeds Andrew Beedham, of Clarke Wilmott, in the chair.

A criminal defense specialist, James is a Partner and the manager of the Birmingham office at Tuckers Solicitors LLP, he is also a duty solicitor, a high court advocate and a member of the Legal Agency Peer Review panel.

James stated, "Its an honour to be taking on this prestigious role in such a milestone year. I will use it to raise the profile of the profession, to encourage new members to join the organisation and work to ensure we remain inclusive and relevant."

Birmingham Law Society is the largest regional law society in the UK, it was established in 1818 and now has over 4,000 members drawn from barristers' chambers and law firms across the Midlands.
