There are many types of crimes categorised in the UK as "violent crime"... In a nutshell it's where a person is subject to a physical force or violence.

Rape and sexual abuse are also considered violent crimes. 

If a subsequent death occurs as a result of the violence this is referred to as Homicide. The Homicide Act of 1957 lists the offences as;

• Involuntary Manslaughter. This could be as the result of negligence on behalf of an individual.

• Voluntary Manslaughter. This could be where there was an intent to murder but there may be a partialdefence applicable. ie. diminished responsibility, mental illness or loss of control.

• Murder. This is where an individual has maliciously killed with intent.
